October 6, 2023 - Kids Night Out

Hey there, awesome parents! Ever thought about enjoying a calm dinner without the sudden interruptions of, "I dropped my fork," "Tommy took my crayon," or the classic, "I’m not hungry, but can I have dessert?" Well, dreams do come true!

Introducing the ultimate babysitter minus the eye-rolls – our "Kids Night Out" fundraiser! We promise to entertain your  kids with a Hip Hop Dance Lesson courtesy of Amanda Kupillas Dance School teacher Brianna, Craft tables for drawing, bracelet making and more crafts and games, and  The Lego Movie screening, popcorn included!. You, on the other hand, get to relish your dinner without being summoned for a napkin every 2.5 seconds.

The funds raised during this event will help our non-profit achieve the goals we all share: to raise our kids in a community that gives all kids the opportunities they need to thrive. All proceeds from this event will go toward our funding of the Hastings Youth Council’s Emergency Fund for Citizens, which provides backup financial assistance to families who may periodically experience difficulty with rent, heat, health care payments, school or camp trips, and other urgent needs. Granting these families that security makes all the difference for their kids and for ours too, knowing their community cares about everyone.

 So, not only do you get a break, but you also get good karma! Go ahead, RSVP, wear that outfit that's too fancy for playdates, and leave the rest to us. It’s time for the kids to have their night out, so you can, too! See you and your young movie critics soon!

October 14, 2023 - Rivertown Thrift

Attention all Rivertown fashionistas and bargain hunters! Have you been longing for that exhilarating rush of snagging a unique fashion piece without breaking the bank? Look no further than our Rivertown Thrift event! Dive into a treasure trove of repurposed clothes, from vintage classics to contemporary cuts, all at prices that will have your wallet singing hallelujah. But here’s the best part - while you score amazing deals, you're also directly contributing to the heart and soul of our community.

Aside from adding flair to your wardrobe, all proceeds from our Rivertown Thrift event will fund our Hastings Food Pantry, which provides a variety of fresh and non-perishable foods to approximately 60 families every week from the back entrance to the Community Center. Providing food security allows all kids to have the nourishment they need and provides much needed stress relief to families who need the backup support. Friends of Hastings Youth Council is dedicated to insuring that the Food Pantry and other Youth Council programs continue to succeed.   This isn’t just about clothes, it’s about a mission. Your support will keep the heartbeat of our community strong and steady.
