About Us

Friends of the Hastings Youth Council is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that provides financial support to the Hastings Youth Council.

In 1969, The Board of Trustees of the Village of Hastings on Hudson appointed a group of citizens called the “Narcotics Guidance Council” to combat drug abuse among young people. Today, the “Hastings Youth Council” continues this work, but its purposes have broadened.

The Youth Council is an integral part of the village’s support network for children, teens and families, through their many services, including counseling, drug education programs, volunteerism, safe rides, employment services and many other programs as well.

Composed of 8 volunteers and student representatives from Hastings High School, the Youth Council oversees and collaborates with the Youth Advocate Program, Youth Services programs, and many other programs and services that offer enhancement and/or a safety net to underserved, under resourced youth in our community.

The Council is appointed by the Mayor and Board of Trustees while working in partnership with the Village Government and Hastings on Hudson Union Free School District.
