Transforming pre-loved treasures into brighter futures for young people

Rivertown Thrift is a volunteer-run, community-based thrift shop and monthly pop-up that raises funds for the Hastings Food Pantry.

We accept high-quality donations and move them forward into the community in three ways:

  • Large, monthly pop-up located at the James Harmon Community Center

  • Retail storefront open Thursday - Sunday, located at 3 Spring St. in Hastings

  • Community Closet available at no cost to patrons of the Hastings Food Pantry at the James Harmon Community Center

Our Story

A handful of Hastings neighbors saw two pressing local needs: 1.) The local food pantry seeing a sharp increase in demand and 2.) A popular backyard thrift with a sustainability mission that lacked a building to call home. They dreamed up a simple, beautiful collaboration: a pop-up thrift where Hastings residents could donate and shop for gently-used, affordable clothing, shoes, and accessories. All proceeds would benefit the Hastings Food Pantry.

In October 2023, the Good Witch Coffee Bar in downtown Hastings offered their space for the very first thrift sale. The event was so successful that two months later, courtesy of the Youth Advocate Program, Rivertown Thrift opened its doors in a new, regular location at the James Harmon Community Center. One Saturday a month the lower level hosts, a warm, welcoming event full of hidden gems with all the proceeds supporting the Hastings Food Pantry.

There have been monthly thrifts at the community center ever since. Outside of the monthly thrift events, a room on the lower level has been transformed into a Community Closet, offering free clothes to patrons of the Hastings Food Pantry.

In December 2025, thanks to the generosity of another local business, Arts Transcending Time, the Rivertown Thrift Annex was born. Located at 3 Spring Street, The Annex is a retail storefront open Thursday - Sunday that offers a highly curated thrift experience. All proceeds from the Annex support other Youth Council projects including Safe Rides and the Emergency Assistance Fund for Citizens.

What started as a rent-free, two-week trial has evolved into an ongoing storefront with wonderful, dedicated volunteers, donors, and customers, coming from all over Westchester County and the Tri-State area.

The Rivertown Thrift and Rivertown Thrift Annex have become a beloved part of the Hastings village — proof that sustainability, secondhand fashion and a little fun can change lives.
