Hastings K.I.D.S.

(Kids Involved Doing Service)

Hastings K.I.D.S. (Kids Involved Doing Service) is a Youth Council venture which provides volunteer opportunities to youth, to teach the importance of giving to others and to learn a variety of life skills.

Hastings K.I.D.S. was founded in 2010 in partnership with the High School to give teens opportunities to become involved in their community through service. Teens generate ideas for service and perform large and small acts of community service. Ongoing projects include Reading Partners, Hillside Hikes, distributing food and clothing to unhoused populations in NYC through the Midnight Run and Breakfast Run programs, and raised money for charities such as the American Cancer Society and AFYA.

The KIDS program is all volunteer and requires only incidental funding for supplies, which is provided through the Friends of the Hastings Youth Council.
